Sam Houston and head coach K.C. Keeler reached a four-year contract extension that extends his current contract to 2027, sources tell DCTF. The deal is not to exceed $3,250,000 over the life of the agreement. The Bearkats are moving up to FBS as part of Conference USA to start the 2023 season and Keeler’s current contract was set to expire at the end of June.
Keeler is the all-time winningest coach in FCS playoff history and is the only coach in FCS history to win a national championship at two different institutions. He won it at Delaware in 2003 and Sam Houston in the spring season of 2021. He’s entering his 10th season in Huntsville with a 85-27 record. He’s won 259 games in his career, which only trails Nick Saban, Mack Brown, and Brian Kelly amongst active coaches.
