Former Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers defensive back C.J. Wilson has been named the new head coach at Fort Worth Polytechnic High School, Fort Worth ISD announced.
Wilson, a native of Terrell, has spent the last three seasons in the private school ranks posting a 19-12 overall record. He played his college football at Baylor where he was a two-time all-Big 12 selection before embarking on a six-year NFL career.
He takes over a Poly program that has struggled mightily in recent years in Fort Worth ISD as the Parrots haven’t posted a winning season since a 6-5 mark in 2009 under head coach Othell Robinson. Poly has only had five playoff appearances in school history, 1954, 1973, 1990, 2009 and 2020.
Wilson becomes the second former Dallas Cowboy to become a head coach in Fort Worth ISD joining district rival Southwest and Phillip Tanner, who played for the Cowboys from 2011-2014.
