UTSA suffered one of its first losses over the last two years with news that senior wide receiver Zakhari Franklin entered the transfer portal. The Cedar Hill product led the state of Texas with 94 receptions for 1,136 yards, and 15 touchdowns. He holds Roadrunner records in career catches (262), receiving yards (3,348) and touchdowns (37). He’s averaged 12.8 yards per catch over his four-year career.

The Roadrunners won’t lack offensive weapons despite the blow of Franklin’s loss. Joshua Cephus and JT Clark are capable targets for returning quarterback Frank Harris. Cephus was second on the team in 2022 with 87 catches for 985 yards and six scores. Clark caught 51 passes for 741 yards and eight touchdowns in nine games. Tight end Oscar Cardenas also returns.
