South Oak Cliff LB Brandon Jones (6'1, 190) just pulled the trigger on his commitment to North Texas, giving UNT its highest-rated commitment in the history of DCTF's recruiting rankings.
Jones checks in at No. 63 in the 2024 DCTF RISING Hot 100.
Jones picked the Mean Green over an abundance of P5 offers like Arizona State, Colorado, Houston, Louisville, Kansas, Michigan State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Kansas State and more.
"This is a monumental moment for UNT and its recruiting department, which hosted some impressive players at their Junior Day and also own a three-star commitment from Katy TE Luke Carter," DCTF Director of Recruiting Greg Powers said. "That gives them two commits who are not only considered elite talents but play for two of the top talent-producing programs in the state. It is an impressive start for Eric Morris."
Jones collected an amazing 199 tackles, 20 TFLs, and eight sacks to earn unanimous first-team all-district honors as a junior in 2022.
"I got the speed," Jones said of his strengths at linebacker. "You can't teach how to play fast and how to use your feet. See the ball. Get the ball."
Jones helped lead the Golden Bears to a 5A Division II state championship in 2021 and 2022.
"That was a great feeling," Jones said of winning back-to-back titles. "Because we've been there once, and people say you can't do it twice, and we did it twice, and that made us immortal."
