Dave Campbell’s Texas Football 2022 postseason All-Texas College teams include at least one player from each of the 12 FBS programs in the Lone Star State. The list is headlined by Offensive Player of the Year Max Duggan from TCU and Defensive Player of the Year Jaylan Ford of Texas. TCU head coach Sonny Dykes was named Coach of the Year, edging out UTSA’s Jeff Traylor, the winner of the award in 2021. Baylor running back Richard Reese and Texas A&M safety Bryce Anderson were named freshman of the year in a category that only included signees from the 2022 recruiting class.

The teams are split into first and second team with 12 players selected to each side of the ball to avoid leaving out a third receiver, second running back, or the tight end position on offense, as well as keeping four defensive linemen, linebackers, and defensive backs on the defensive side of the ball. Players of the year were not eligible for first- or second-team selection to provide more spots for a state filled with so many good players. First team members such as Kelvin Banks were not eligible for freshman of the year honors.

TCU, unsurprisingly given a 12-1 record and a three-seed in the upcoming College Football Playoff, top the list with 11 selections, including Duggan and Dykes as superlatives. The Horned Frogs played complimentary football and it shows because four offensive players, four defensive players, and two special team players made the list.

UTSA and Texas tied for second-most selections with six each. Houston, UTEP, and Baylor hold five spots each. Texas Tech and North Texas checked in with four, while Rice and SMU sit at three. Rice has two defenders on the second-team, while Texas State’s one selection is a first-team player.

Six players were awarded superlatives for player of the year awards.
