Corpus Christi Flour Bluff (6-3, 4-0) at Gregory-Portland (7-2, 4-0):
The district title is on the line in 16-5A Division II as the two Coastal Bend powers Flour Bluff and Gregory-Portland collide in a showdown for the outright title.
Both teams have dominated inferior competition in district play with Flour Bluff last week blasting Brownsville Porter, 57-0. The Hornets defense has pitched back-to-back shutouts in wins over Pharr Valley View and Porter.
Gregory-Portland drilled Valley View a week ago, 59-3, as the Wildcats defense has been the story in district play, allowing just 15 points in four games.
Gregory-Portland seems to be getting healthy and rounding into form at the right time and peaking, which is what Brent Davis’ squad did a year ago. They could be a real tough out come playoff time and the Wildcats take down their nemesis from down the road in Flour Bluff and make their mark as a contender in Region IV.
