Galena Park North Shore (8-0, 5-0) at Humble Atascocita (7-1, 5-0):

The two best teams in 6A-Division I in the Houston area meet up once again with a district title on the line.

North Shore has definitely had Atascocita’s number winning the last four meetings, with two of those wins coming in the playoffs. NSHS has found their footing since losing sophomore Kaleb Bailey to an injury as UTSA commit David Amador moved over from WR to QB and has gotten better each week. Last week the Mustangs rolled past Humble, 56-14. Amador accounted for 375 yards of offense and six touchdowns, but this week’s test is easily their biggest of the season.

Atascocita isn’t as explosive on offense as they’ve been in years past, but they are still solid with junior QB Zion Brown and sophomore RB Tory Blaylock.

North Shore’s secondary is the strength of their defense, but Atascocita may decide the best way to attack the Mustangs is with the run. The Eagles defense is allowing just seven points per game and is very underrated led by massive DT Samu Taumanupepe, a Texas A&M commit.

Two big keys for me are who establishes the running game and who makes fewer mental errors. This is always a game with a lot on the line and for Atascocita this is easily their best chance to beat North Shore in a few years, who doesn’t get dumb penalties and who takes care of the football will be key.
