Mesquite Horn 2025 OT Lamont Rogers (6'7, 305) is a first-year varsity starter for the Jaguars, who already has a lot of significant college attention.
"It is fun," Rogers said. "My coach has taught me a lot. I did not know what I was doing at first because it is only my third year playing football, but they coached me right to stay low and block with my hands."
"The coaching staff is great. I love the coaching staff. They build up everybody, and they motivate everybody to succeed and just go after it."
Rogers is looking up to one of the best in the NFL for inspiration, and he just so happens to be one of the best to play in TXHSFB as well.
"I like Trent Williams because he is explosive and he is powerful when he blocks," Rogers said of the former Longview standout. "I like that."
Rogers has already secured in-state offers from Baylor, SMU, Texas Tech and UTSA.
"I love it," Rogers said of the attention.
"When I got my first offer from Texas Tech, I was excited. I like Texas Tech because it is a good school. I told my momma about it, and she was jumping around the place. It was just a good time, a good feeling getting an offer."
"Baylor shows much love. I like Baylor. I like the coaching staff and the scheme that they run."
"I really have not done my research on SMU yet, but I am going to get to it. It is a good school. I went to the SMU game. It was cool, but they lost to TCU."
A native of Mississippi, Rogers said that schools like Alabama, Mississippi State and Jackson State are schools that he would be highly interested in if they were to offer.
"It would be cool if I get an offer from one of those hometown colleges like Jackson State or Mississippi State."
Mesquite Horn is off to a 5-2 start in 2022. The Jaguars face-off versus Tyle Legacy (1-5) on Friday.
