Edinburg Vela (4-0) at PSJA North (4-0)

It’s the game of the year (to this point) in the Valley as two unbeaten teams with hopes of bringing glory to the RGV come playoff time meet up in a massive showdown on Thursday night.

Vela comes into this one fresh off an impressive 63-0 beatdown of McAllen Memorial last week. The Sabercats got three touchdowns each from Dimas DeLeon and Jamal Polley, while special teams scored three touchdowns and the Vela defense totally dominated McAllen Memorial’s run heavy scheme.

It was similar domination on Friday night as PSJA North dismantled McAllen High 55-0. The Raiders offensive line took control of the game early and multiple backs for the Raiders were lethal.

Both defenses come into this one playing well. Vela appears to be more talented, but PSJA North has the experience edge. I think Vela’s offense is a little too explosive and the Sabercats ability to score in all three phases of the game are the difference in this showdown which likely will be a sellout.

Stepp’s Pick: Edinburg Vela by 9
