The more I study the players in Texas sub-FBS colleges, the harder this team gets every year. Texas is filled with so much talent at every position, but this team is unique because there is only one team. 

If you disagree with some of the selections, join a club that continues to grow. However, no one will disagree about the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Xavier Gipson.

The Stephen F. Austin wide receiver isn’t just the best receiver in FCS. He is among the best receivers in the country regardless of the level. The Woodrow Wilson product produced video game numbers last year, gaining 1,367 yards and 14 touchdowns receiving. 

Gipson may not achieve those numbers this year, with some defenses choosing to triple-team him last year, but that attention will help a loaded SFA team looking to make a run to the national title.

The Preseason Defensive Player of the Year selection was another obvious choice. UIW linebacker Kelechi Anyalebechi terrorized opposing offenses last year to the tune of a team-leading 119 tackles, 3.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and two interceptions.

Opposing teams will try to game plan for Shadow Creek High School product, but the Cardinals can place him anywhere on the defensive side of the ball and let him make plays.

Fourteen teams are represented, with SFA leading with four selections, while UIW sits alone in second with three players selected. Eight teams have two players on the team, while four teams have one representative.
