REGIONAL OUTLOOK

The outlook in Region IV has changed quite a bit as Falls City’s dominance could be challenged as the Beavers not only were hit hard by graduation, but the region as a whole has improved as well with some new additions.

Chilton makes the move to Region IV after advancing to the regional finals a year ago, the Pirates only two losses last year were to Mart and they return a dozen starters as well.  Bremond was a regional semifinalist a year ago and returns seventeen starters, they’ll be right there with Chilton in contention for the district crown. Granger was a district title team a year and should be more than competitive in this very difficult district.

Burton, who on paper had a 5-9 record a year ago, but in reality was 12-2 returns loaded for a big move in 2022 with eight starters returning on both sides of the ball. They fell to Falls City 34-20 in the regional finals a year ago and they’ll have to knock off the Beavers inside of district play in 2022. Snook, Somerville and Yorktown will be the top contenders for the final three playoff spots, but don’t expect to be much of a factor in the playoffs.

D’Hanis expects to once again dominate in 15-2A Division II as the Cowboys welcome back seventeen total starters. Rocksprings doesn’t have a ton of depth and the Angoras are going through a late coaching transition this off-season, but they are always a scrappy bunch and the smart pick for the second slot. Brackettville and LaPryor lead the way for third and fourth but after the top two in this district the water gets murky pretty quick.

With the departure of Falls City from this district, the door is now open for Bruni to step in and fill the void in 16-2A Division II. The Badgers are the big favorites in this loop, while Agua Dulce and Woodsboro, both of whom return seven starters on both sides of the ball will battle for the two seed.
