The first huge recruiting news out of a major weekend across the state took place Saturday at noon when five-star Anthony Hill pledged to Texas A&M during a visit. The Denton Ryan product is ranked as the best linebacker in the country and a top-50 overall prospect in the country, per 247Sports composite. The 6-2, 225-pound Hill held more than 30 offers, including ones from Alabama, Texas, USC, and Oklahoma. He's the third-ranked player on the DCTF Hot 100

Hill is likely the first piece of an avalanche of recruiting wins for Texas A&M over the next few weeks. He's the seventh pledge in the 2023 cycle for Jimbo Fisher's program. The Aggies' 2023 class currently rank 55th in the nation. They signed the best class in the country last season and should storm towards another top 10 finish this cycle. Hill provides Texas A&M with a face of the class. He broke out as a sophomore when he helped Denton Ryan go undefeated and win a state title. He recorded 105 tackles, including 11 for loss and three sacks, en route to winning district newcomer of the year in 2020. Hill’s production grew as a junior, registering 131 tackles, including 18 for loss and eight sacks, as well as two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, two interceptions. He scored twice on turnovers in 2021 and was named co-MVP of District 5-5A Division I.
