The date of the party might not be official, but the location appears to be locked in. Texas A&M athletic director Ross Bjork told the Houston Chronicle at the SEC spring meetings that Kyle Field will be home to the first meeting between his Aggies and the Texas Longhorns when the two old rivals renew their long-time feud as SEC opponents. 

Texas beat Texas A&M in College Station back in 2011 in the last meeting between the two schools as Big 12 programs. Bjork said that the Aggies hosting the last meeting had no bearing on the future as SEC opponents. Texas A&M won’t let the Longhorns waltz back into their lives and dictate the location of the first encounter. 

“That’s something that’s important to us,” Bjork said to Brent Zwerneman at the Houston Chronicle about the scheduling process. Texas won’t receive a vote on league matters until its officially in the conference. That is expected to be the summer of 2025, but no one would be surprised it the Longhorns negotiated an earlier release from its membership in the Big 12. “They don’t have a vote in the process.”
