Dave Campbell'sTexas Football magazine revealed its 2021 Preseason All-Texas College teams on Thursday. The honorees will be featured in the 2021 summer preview edition of Dave Campbell's Texas Football, featuring Texas A&M's defense on the cover.
The teams include 52 student-athletes from all 12 FBS schools in the state of Texas, along with a rare FCS player who made the cut. The coverboy Texas A&M Aggies led the way with 10 honorees, including six members on the first team. Texas Tech and SMU tied for second with six honorees, while Baylor, UTSA and Texas each placed five.
For the first time since Walter Payton Award winner Jeremiah Briscoe in 2017, the FCS ranks were represented. Sam Houston quarterback Eric Schmid earned second team honors after leading the Bearkats to a national championship.
In addition, eight student-athletes were honored by DCTF as superlatives at their respective positions:
- Best quarterback: Tyler Shough, Texas Tech
- Best running back: Sincere McCormick, UTSA
- Best receiver: Reggie Roberson, SMU
- Best offensive lineman: Kenyon Green, Texas A&M
- Best defensive lineman: DeMarvin Leal, Texas A&M
- Best linebacker: Terrel Bernard, Baylor
- Best defensive back: Marcus Jones, Houston
- Best special teams: Austin McNamara, Texas Tech
