For the third time in three seasons, Omaha Pewitt will have a new head coach as Richard Strickland resigns his post after just one season leading the Brahmas.

Strickland’s squad posted an 8-4 record advancing to the 3A-Division II Regional Semifinals, an impressive season considering Strickland didn’t arrive on campus until June due to Covid protocols and the Brahmas dealt with an early season Covid outbreak that caused the cancellation of a couple of non-district games.

Pewitt hired Strickland last offseason to replace Triston Abron, who led PPHS to the state title game in 2019 but left to take over at Mexia. Abron only spent two seasons leading Pewitt and ironically he’s left Mexia after just one year as he was recently hired at Pittsburg to be the HFC/AD.
