COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Connor Spitzer threw six touchdown passes as Katy Cinco Ranch beat Abilene 42-36 to win the 2002 Fox Sports Net 7-on-7 State Championship at Texas A&M's Kyle Field.
Cinco Ranch held a 28-22 lead at the half, but Abilene scored on the first play of the second half to take a 29-28 lead. Spitzer then found Elmer on the Cougars' first play of the second half. Abilene failed to score on its next possession, and Spitzer hit Elmer again to give Cinco Ranch a 42-29 lead. Abilene cut the lead to six with a touchdown with 6:30 remaining.
In the consolation bracket final, Katy beat Lufkin 41-34 behind six touchdown passes by Adam Vyvial. Lufkin's Terrence Parks threw four touchdown passes, including a pair to Quentin Holman. Earlier in the day, defending champion Baytown Lee fell to Burnet, 40-21.
