The first big coaching movement in the Golden Triangle took place on Thursday afternoon as Beaumont West Brook head coach Eric Peevey was named the new head coach at Class 4A Little Cypress-Mauriceville.
Peevey posted an impressive 33-15 overall record in four seasons leading the Bruins and led West Brook to the Class 6A-Division II state title game in 2018.
Peevey cited the opportunity to be an athletic director in a one-school district as an opportunity that was “too good to pass up.”
LCM struggled last year with a 1-7 record and the program has won just one playoff game since the 1997 season when they made a run to the regional finals in old Class 4A.
Peevey’s departure leaves West Brook as a very intriguing job as the Bruins are loaded with talent the next couple of seasons and should contend in Region III in Class 6A-Division II.
