New Braunfels Canyon head coach Joe Lepsis has resigned his post after threee seasons, TexasFootball.com has learned.

Lepsis lead the Cougars to an impressive 11-2 record in 2020 after an 0-10 2019 campaign. The Cougars advanced to the 5A-Division I regional semifinals before falling to eventual state runner-up Cedar Park in a hard-fought game. Canyon High School is located in the fast growing Comal ISD, which will be adding two high schools to varsity football competition in the 2022 season, so expect the Cougars to remain in Class 5A-Division I for 2022 and 2023.

Lepsis, who holds a 61-70 overall record as a head coach with stints at Wylie East and New Braunfels Canyon will likely be a strong candidate for other jobs statewide considering the turnaround Canyon had in 2020. Expect the New Braunfels Canyon job to get plenty of interest inside of Comal ISD and statewide considering the location and the success of the Cougars.
