Katy 2022 CB Bobby Taylor (6-2, 175) and his Tigers are set for a state championship showdown versus Cedar Hill. 

The Katy defense enters the game riding a hot streak after beating Buda hays Consolidated 63-7. 

"Overall, I think the defense has been playing great. We have been able to win by some good margins lately," Taylor said. "I believe when we (defense) plays well, we give our offense the chance to get it done. I have to give props to our sophomore quarterback Caleb Koger, who came in this season and gained confidence and is playing well."

It's clear that Taylor is one of the top players in the 2022 class. To date, 35 offers are in hand for the DCTF four-star defender.

"I have a lot. Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, LSU, Utah, Texas A&M, Florida State, USC, Texas Tech, USC, Arkansas and a bunch more," Taylor said. "Right now, I would have to say that Alabama and Texas A&M are my top two. I have a great relationship with both programs."

Taylor, who looks to likely decide by this spring, has been in constant contact with the two SEC West programs. He cites the decision will be one that involves his family and what is best for them collectively.

"I keep in touch with coach (Jeff) Banks a lot, and I've been to A&M 5-6 times. I want to get my parents to these two schools too," Taylor said. "These are the two schools I'm considering right now, and I will most definitely visit. I believe I will get great development at (either of) these schools."

The SEC's lure is a major factor to Taylor, who reports a number of reasons why he is highly considering the schools and conference. For one, the conference annually puts the most guys in the NFL. Also, the competitive level is one that Taylor willingly invites.

"This conference gets you ready for the league. I feel as though the SEC is the best fit for me," Taylor said. "I like to play with a lot of physicality and have the versatility to play corner, nickel, or safety. This year I worked a lot on my off-man coverage, which has helped me a lot."

This offseason Taylor said that he plans to put on more weight to be ready to play as soon as he gets on a college campus. 

The DCTF four-star currently plans to be an early college enrollee to make a positive year-one impact at the school of his choice. 

Taylor is the son of former NFL star Bobby Taylor.
