Denison 2022 RB Jadarian "JD" Price (5'11, 180) is a well-known talent at this point with offers from close to 20 Division I college programs.
Price will have the chance to compete in the playoffs for the first time in his career when Denison (7-3) faces North Forney (8-1) in the first round of the 5A Division II playoffs.
"It feels great. This is my first time in my high school career going to the playoffs. We've had the playoff mindset since the fifth game of the season. We knew we'd be here in this position," Price said.
Price is starting to inch closer to making a decision in his recruitment. According to him, he's extremely thankful to be in the position that he's found himself in.
"First off, I'm just blessed to be back and healthy going back to last year when I got injured," the Denison product said regarding his recruitment.
"I'm just grateful to be here. Grateful to have the opportunity to go to big schools and colleges, but I really don't know yet. I'll maybe make a decision right after the season or towards the end of the school year."
Three schools are at the forefront of Price's mind as he weighs his options in picking a school.
"Big schools on my mind right now are Texas, Stanford and Oklahoma State. Those are big schools for me right now," Price said.
Oklahoma State has struck a chord with the Denison running back because of the coaching staff and the college town atmosphere.
"I love the coaches," he said. "I love (Mike) Gundy. I love (John) Wozniak. He's a great guy. I talk to him every day. It's a great college town."
Stanford, with its high academic standing, has made Price feel honored to have the chance to attend school in Palo Alto, Calif.
"The fact that they chose to recruit me when they recruit five percent of the nation, that's so crazy. I'm just blessed," Price said.
Adding to the fact that Stanford's academics have attracted Price, his relationship with Stanford running back coach Ron Gould also means a great deal to him.
"He's an awesome dude. He's just straight up and honest. He talks to me every day. He's steady on me. He told me they're not going to stop recruiting me no matter (an) injury or anything. Just keep your grades up, and we got you," Price said regarding his conversations with coach Gould.
As far as in-state, Texas has been hot and cold towards Price throughout his recruitment. Lately, Texas running back coach Stan Drayton has started to turn up the heat.
"Coach Drayton has hit me up a lot more, and I'm grateful for that. I can't wait to get down there and check it out again. Check out that new DKR." Price said.
At this point, Price has already visited both Oklahoma State and Texas with plans to visit Stanford soon once the current conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic subside.
Ultimately, he's looking for a place that he can call home.
"Somewhere where I can go to anyone for help just to talk about life. Not even football. Somewhere I can talk about life is just a big thing for me. Somewhere I can feel at home," Price said about his future home.
