One of the best players in recent San Antonio high school memory is heading home. 

Former Converse Judson standout Julon Williams announced on Twitter that he is transferring to UTSA from Houston. Williams transfers in as a redshirt sophomore, but will have to apply for a transfer waiver to play in 2020. 

Williams only appeared in two games in his career, against Arizona and Texas Southern during his redshirt season. He did not see action in 2019. 

Before Houston, Williams was an exceptional quarterback at Converse Judson. He threw for 6,715 yards and 60 touchdowns and rushed for 3,369 yards and 58 touchdowns during a standout four-year career. He led the Rockets to the state semifinals as a freshman and sophomore, and also held offers from Power Five schools like TCU and Utah. 

Williams is just the latest San Antonio product set to take on a starring role. Former high school teammates Sincere McCormick and Rashad Wisdom excelled as true freshmen and locals Frank Harris (Schertz Clemens) and Josh Adkins (Spring Branch Smithson Valley) will compete for the starting quarterback job. 

If he gets a transfer waiver, Williams will add some much-needed depth at receiver. The Roadrunners ranked No. 106 nationally in passing offense, only ahead of Rice in the state of Texas. 

Williams is the younger brother of former Cincinnati Bengal and Roadrunner Jarveon Williams, the leading rusher in the history of the program.
