Southlake Carroll QB Quinn Ewers Tabbed as First 2022 Five-Star
Southlake Carroll QB Quinn Ewers (6'3, 195) is the first TXHSFB prospect in the Class of 2022 to earn five-star status and is rated as the No. 1 prospect in the state.
Ewers took the reigns at the Dallas-area powerhouse as a sophomore in 2019 and quickly proved himself as one of the state's elite.
Ewers breakout moment may have come in a Week 6 road win over Denton Guyer (highlights below), a victory that ultimately led to a 5-6A district title for the Dragons.
In the win, Ewers made his mark with 440 total yards and six touchdowns.
"He showed a lot of toughness and maturity," TexasFootball.com analyst Greg Powers informed. "As the game progressed, Ewers played better and better. It was a tough environment. Guyer pulled out to an early lead, but Ewers put his team on his back. He had a bunch of amazing throws and an impressive a 70-yard touchdown run up the sidelines late in the game. The TD run was the backbreaker for Guyer."
"I remember comparing him to a young Trevor Lawrence after the game, and I still think that Lawrence is a good comparison for Ewers. Lawrence was rated as the No. 1 QB and No. 1 prospect in the nation."
Ewers helped lead SLC to a 13-1 record. He completed 292-of-402 (72%) of his passes for 3,998 yards and 45 touchdowns and rushed for 583 yards and nine scores to earn 5-6A MVP and second-team all-state honors.
Ewers has already collected offers from 28 colleges. Baylor, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State and Oklahoma are some of the headliners.
