Converse Judson junior Bryce Wisdom turned 17 years old on Tuesday, and his community showed up in a big way.

Several hundred cars drove by Wisdom’s house for a parade as he sat out front to collect birthday wishes. Wisdom, who was set to try out for Judson’s team as a cornerback in 2019, has spent the last year fighting cancer.

The San Antonio football community has rallied behind the youngest member of the Wisdom family using the mantra “Bryce Strong.” People showed up not just from Judson High School, but also Schertz Clemens, San Antonio Wagner, Smithson Valley and many others across the region.

However, the biggest surprises came from hometown college football team, UTSA, where his brother Rashad Wisdom plays safety.

UTSA president Taylor Eighmy, athletic director Lisa Campos and head football coach Jeff Traylor all stopped by. Traylor brought Wisdom a custom No. 20 Roadrunners jersey. Even better, the trio delivered Wisdom a letter of admission to the university.

Additionally, former UTSA coach Frank Wilson – who was relied of his duties in November – took time to stop by and celebrate Bryce. Wilson was hired as the head coach at McNeese State, but his son was a speedy cornerback at San Antonio Brandeis in 2019. Wilson’s relationship with the Wisdom family extended far off the field.

In addition to his UTSA family, several others from the San Antonio football community stopped by including Texas safety Caden Sterns, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Tre Flowers and former Judson coach Sean McAuliffe.
