Plano has hired former Lucas Lovejoy head coach Todd Ford has its next head coach, per Plano ISD.
Ford is a known commodity around the state having spent nine years as a head coach, including being the first-ever head coach at Round Rock Cedar Ridge. He led the Raiders to a 10-2 mark in his final season there.
He left Lovejoy in January after four seasons.
Ford, who has a 52-47 record as a head coach, was also the offensive coordinator at North Texas under former head coach Todd Dodge. He also served as Dodge's offensive coordinator at Southlake Carroll.
He is Plano's first head coach outside of the legendary John Clark coaching tree since 1965.
Plano originally hired Denton Braswell head coach Cody Moore earlier this month, but he decided to remain at Braswell a day after accepting the job at a Plano ISD board meeting.
Ford inherits a Plano program that went 5-5 in 2019, which included losing its final three games. The Wildcats have seven state titles and have played for a state championship nine times. They've been to the playoffs 50 times.
