North Texas quarterback Mason Fine broke the all-time record for career completions on Saturday afternoon against Southern Miss.

Fine completed pass No. 641 in the second quarter against the Golden Eagles to break Mitch Maher’s career record of 640. The pass was an out to Jalen Guyton that he turned upfield for 32 yards.

The true junior tied the record early in the second quarter with an incredible 52-yard touchdown pass to give the Mean Green a 7-0 lead. With 7:11 remaining in the second quarter against the Golden Eagles, Fine already has completed 14-of-21 passes for 192 yards and a touchdown.

Fine is on track to shatter every quarterback career record at North Texas. The junior is within 1,000 yards of Maher’s passing yards record, 16 of Steve Ramsey’s career touchdowns record and already on track to break Scott Hall’s career passing efficiency record.

Keep in mind, Fine still has a full year of eligibility remaining at UNT. The 5-foot-11 junior from Peggs, Okla., started nine games as a true freshman, and has held onto the starting job ever since.

North Texas leads Southern Miss 10-7 with 7:11 remaining in the second quarter at Apogee Stadium in Denton.
