Commit of the Week

Class of 2019 ATH Keonte Burns (6'3, 175) from Pittsburg made his commitment to SMU.

Burns is an impressive addition for Sonny Dykes and Co., as he selected the Mustangs over offers from schools like Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, Nebraska,  Texas A&M, and Texas Tech.

Burns is a prospect who could star on either side of the football in college at wide receiver or safety.

Underclassman of the Week

Class of 2020 WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (6'1, 190) from Rockwall had a monster week.

He is nominated for the Mr. Texas Football Player of the Week after collecting 13 catches, 289 yards, and three touchdowns in a hard-fought loss to Longview.

But TDs were not the only thing that Smith-Njigba is collecting this week as he also secured offers from Ole Miss and Notre Dame.

Recruit of the Week

QB Grant Gunnell

Class of 2019 QB Grant Gunnell (6'6, 222) from Houston St. Pius X is inching closer and closer to the state record for yards and touchdowns.

The Arizona commit had a monster game in a loss to Prestonwood Christian Academy on Friday night. He completed 44-of-60 passes for 517 yards and seven touchdowns.

Those numbers leave him 840 yards and 17 TDs shy of the record.

Prospect on the Rise

Class of 2019 QB Chandler Rogers (6'0, 180) from Lake Ridge threw a last-second touchdown pass to beat DeSoto on Thursday night.

In the win, Rogers starred. He passed for 429 yards and four touchdowns and added 68 yards rushing

Rogers -- who is considering offers from schools like Air Force and Southern Miss -- should be regarded as a prospect who could shoot up some lists based on his senior performance.

Rogers is also nominated for the Mr. Texas Football Player of the Week
