David Gbenda, a 6-foot-0, 220-pound linebacker from Cinco Ranch announced his commitmnt to the Texas Longhorns on Sunday evening. Gbenda picked the 'Horns over offers from schools like Arkansas, Ole Miss, TCU, and Texas A&M.

"I want to thank all the coaches who have recruited me and taken a chance on me," Gbenda said. "In this gae I understand it takes guts, will, and sacrifice. With that being said I'm committed to the University of Texas."

Gbenda -- who was named as the LB MVP at the The Opening regional camp in Houston -- is one of the top-rated prospects at his position in the state per Next Level Athlete.

Analysis: "Gbenda is very coachable and has good bend in his hips and knees. Plays inside and he could play outside with his speed and athleticism, but he is so effective inside where you can't run away from him. Very physical and explosive twitch."

As a junior in 2017, Gbenda collected 56 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, and two sacks to earn first team all-district honors.
