One of the state's most intriguing Class of 2020 prospects is West Mesquite star running back Ty Jordan

After racking up 917 yards and eight touchdowns as a sophomore in 2017, the 5-foot-9, 185-pound speedster burst onto the recruiting scene.

Jordan has secured double-digit scholarship offers from schools like Boston College, Houston, Illinois, Kansas, SMU, Syracuse, Texas Texas State, Utah, and Utah State.

According to West Mesquite head coach Jeff Neill, Jordan is a speedy prospect with a blend of skills.

"Man his biggest things is just speed," Neill said. "He is extremely fast. He is a powerful kid for his size. He is a very muscular kid. He is a very strong kid. There is a problem catching him. There is a problem tackling him. That is a deadly combination for him."

The Barry Sanders comparison is already being tossed around.

"The Oklahoma State coach kind of said the same thing," Neill informed. "He said, 'you know who he actually reminds me of.' I said he kind of does to me too. He is short to the ground, and that is kind of how Barry Sanders was."

"He is not small; he is just shorter. Good thing for Ty is that he has got that burst and he has that ability to make guys miss. This spring he jumped over four or five guys who tried to tackle him. It is a very natural deal for him."

One of the more rewarding moments in Jordan's recruitment came in July when he picked up an offer from Texas following an impressive display at the Longhorn's annual Stars at Night camp event.

"I was excited when Texas offered me," Jordan said. "It is one of the premier schools in Texas with a lot of tradition. I worked all summer chasing them down at camps and other programs, and I wanted to go to a camp on their campus to get a feel for the atmosphere and culture. It was a highlight because how prestigious they are as a program."

Jordan informed he plans to take in an unofficial visit to TCU on September 22.
