MSU offensive coordinator expected to be named Millikin head coach

Midwestern State Mustangs and former East Texas A&M Lions offensive coordinator Billy Riebock will soon be named the head coach for the Millikin Big Blue.

According to multiple sources, the Midwestern State Mustangs are searching for a new offensive coordinator, with Billy Riebock expected to be named head coach at NCAA Division III Millikin.

Riebock spent the last two seasons leading the Mustangs offense following a four-year stint as offensive coordinator at East Texas A&M (formerly Texas A&M-Commerce) under David Bailiff. Riebock was named to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football 40-under-40 list in 2021. He first arrived in Texas when he served as an offensive quality control coach for Bailiff at Rice.

A graduate of Quincy University, Riebock began his coaching career as the wide receivers coach at Saint Francis in 2006 before becoming an offensive quality control coach at Indiana one year later. He returned to Quincy to serve as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for four seasons before moving back to the FBS ranks at Ball State. Riebock spent three years as the wide receivers coach at Elon before arriving at Rice. He spent one season as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Bridgewater College before arriving at ETAMU.

Riebock inherits a challenging situation at Millikin, where the Big Blue has lost 20 consecutive games. Carlton Hall was released in late October following a 0-7 start to the 2024 campaign. Hall finished with a 4-23 overall record during his three years at Millikin. Patrick Allgeier, a 28-year veteran coach at Millikin, was named interim head coach and has been directing the Big Blue’s recruiting efforts.

The Big Blue are members of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), home to the 2022 NCAA Division III champion North Central (Ill.) and traditional powers Wheaton and Washington University in St. Louis. North Central has advanced to the semifinals of the DIII playoffs in five consecutive seasons and is seeking a fifth straight appearance in the Stagg Bowl when they host Susquehanna on Saturday.
