New Four-Star CB Kade Phillips Recommits to Texas Longhorns

In a major recruiting win, the Texas Longhorns have re-secured a commitment from four-star Fort Bend Hightower CB Kade Phillips (6'0, 170). Phillips, previously pledged to LSU, flipped his commitment back to Texas after initially committing to the 'Horns back in July.

Initially recruited by Texas as a safety, Phillips switched to LSU in the summer, where he was being pursued as a cornerback. However, Texas recalibrated its strategy and began recruiting him as a corner—a move that ultimately sealed the deal.

“They want to see me grow as a player, get better, and come in and compete,” Phillips said. “It feels like family there with all the recruiters and coaches. I get a great vibe from there. We have a great relationship.”

Phillips is currently rated as the No. 3 cornerback in the state and recently climbed over 40 spots in the DCTF Updated Hot 100. He’s a standout on the football field and one of Texas’ top track-and-field athletes, finishing third at the UIL 6A state meet in the long jump (24-7.4 feet) and boasting a 21.5-second 200-meter dash.
