Fort Bend Marshall 2025 ATH Jakayden Ferguson (6'2, 175) played remarkably well in the Buffalos 52-14 bi-district win over Waco University.
On Thursday, Ferguson announced he was reopening his recruiting process, stepping back from his commitment to Kentucky.
“I just decommitted from Kentucky yesterday, and I’m looking to open up my recruiting 100 percent,” Ferguson said.
The Buffalos have been honing in on discipline and cutting penalties, and the work clearly paid off in their playoff opener.
“A big focus this week was to focus on discipline and limit the flags and the penalties, and we came out and did that and played a great game.”
Ferguson’s recruiting stock is skyrocketing, with powerhouses like LSU, Washington, Texas, and Texas Tech all vying for his talents.
Texas, LSU and Washington see him as a defensive back, while Texas Tech is pitching him as a wide receiver—his natural position and one he’s played most of his life.
“It changed up a little bit from playing receiver my whole life, and changing to DB is a big change, but I’m looking forward to possibly changing it up,” Ferguson explained.
Visits are already on the calendar. Ferguson will likely check out Washington this weekend, and he has locked in an official visit to LSU for the Vanderbilt game.
