Fort Bend Ridge Point (10-1) vs Galena Park North Shore (11-0), 7 p.m. Friday at Pearland’s The Rig:
All eyes in Houston will be on this showdown in Pearland as Ridge Point, on paper, is one of the few teams in the Houston area that’s capable of matching North Shore from a pure talent standpoint.
Last week the Panthers cruised to a 49-16 win over Pasadena Dobie. Houston QB commit Austin Carlisle had a big night through the air and on the ground to lead the charge as he threw three touchdown passes, including one to TCU WR commit Dane Jones; Carlisle added two scores on the ground as well.
Ridge Point has one of the best secondary units in the state and they’ll be tested this week by North Shore’s explosive cast of receivers.
North Shore rolled to a 56-13 win over Deer Park last week. The Mustangs only held a 21-13 lead late second quarter, but then scored 35 straight led by junior QB Kaleb Maryland, who tossed a pair of touchdown passes. RB DeAndre Hardeman ran for two scores and RB Chris Thomas added a touchdown pass from Kaleb Bailey and a touchdown run.
North Shore’s defense continues to play lights out and that group is the key in this one. They’ll slow down Carlisle and Ridge Point enough to let the offense roll.
