NCAA Division II announces 2024 playoff bracket

The Angelo State Rams are headed to the NCAA Division II playoffs for the third time in four years when the bracket was revealed on Sunday evening.

The Angelo State Rams are headed to the NCAA Division II playoffs for the third time in the last four years following the national committee's release of the bracket. The Rams are the third seed in Super Region Four and will host Bemidji State, which hails from the Nothern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Should ASU defeat Bemidji, they would meet the winner of Central Washington and Western Colorado. Fellow Lone Star Conference member CWU was the seventh and final seed in the region. Colorado State-Pueblo is the top seed and receives a bye to the second round, where they will host the winner of five-seed Minnesota State and fourth-seed Augustana.

The Rams earned their spot in the bracket by winning their second outright LSC championship in the last three seasons. ASU is making its ninth appearance in the DII playoffs and 12th postseason appearance in program history.

Angelo State is led by one of the top defenses in the country, which has held their last seven opponents to 19 points or less. The Rams have only allowed 20 or more points twice this season, with Fort Hays State scoring a high of 21 against ASU in the season opener.

The offense is led by a Fuller family connection, with sophomore quarterback Braeden Fuller gaining confidence with every start this season. It helps when the man snapping the ball is your cousin. Braeden also has a brother, Cade, who is one of the top punters in the country in case the offense sputters.
