Marquee Matchup: Lake Belton at Georgetown (Texan Live)

Preview and prediction between the Lake Belton Broncos and Georgetown Eagles, featuring QB Eli Mascarenas, ATH Davion Peters and RB Jett Walker.

Lake Belton (6-2, 4-1) at Georgetown (7-1, 4-1):

District 8-5A Division I is one of the state’s most intriguing races to watch as Lake Belton, Georgetown and Cedar Park all sit at 4-1. So this matchup has massive implications.

Lake Belton took a big step towards throwing chaos into the district race last week by knocking off previously unbeaten Cedar Park, 28-21. The Broncos only got a single score in the second half after the game was tied at 21-21 but it proved to be the difference as Eli Mascarenas’ fourth quarter touchdown run was the difference. ATH Davion Peters added a touchdown on the ground and a touchdown receiving.

Georgetown has won four straight after its 66-37 win over Leander Glenn. RB Jett Walker had a career night for the Eagles tallying 404 yards rushing and five touchdowns to lead GHS.

The Eagles offense is among the most dynamic in the state as they average over 50 points per game and that offensive firepower is the big difference in this one.

Stepp’s Pick: Georgetown by 6
