Marquee Matchup: Canyon Randall vs. Canyon West Plains

Preview and prediction for the Canyon Randall Raiders vs. Canyon West Plains, featuring WR Kaiden Miller, RB Dylan Ray, and QB Reid Macon.

Canyon Randall (7-0, 2-0) vs Canyon West Plains (4-3, 2-0):

District 2-4A Division I in the Texas Panhandle has proven thus far to be as tough as any in Region I, and the winner of this Canyon ISD showdown likely has the inside track to a district title. State-ranked Randall held off a tough Hereford squad, 41-34, a week ago as Randall’s offense put up 487 yards, led by WR Kaiden Miller's nine catches for 208 yards and three scores. RB Dylan Ray added 247 yards and two scores on the ground. A concern coming out of the win for Randall has to be the defense, as the Raiders were gashed for 578 yards in the win. Don’t let West Plains’ record fool you, as this is still a strong team, with their three losses coming to unbeaten Seminole and Bushland and private school power Argyle Liberty Christian. The Wolves had no hangover after their big win over Canyon, as they rolled past Pampa, 45-13, last week on the road. QB Reid Macon was outstanding for WPHS with 290 yards passing and three first-half touchdown passes. West Plains led big at halftime and sat many of their starters in the second half. Expect an intense atmosphere in this one, as it’s the first meeting between the two programs and many West Plains players were in Randall’s feeder system before the new school opened. Randall’s defense will need to be better this week, and I think that unit stands tall and gives them a massive win.
