Lovejoy 2025 WR Daylan McCutcheon (6'0, 175) has flipped his commitment from Florida State to Texas.
McCutcheon was waffling on his commitment to the Seminoles in the face of the 1–5 start in 2024, and a visit to Austin for the Longhorn's first SEC win over Mississippi State helped seal the deal.
"It is electric," McCutcheon said of the SEC vibe in Austin. "Every SEC game is going to be loud and electric because in the SEC, every team is pretty good. You can't relax on any team, so to be honest, that game really impressed me with the Texas atmosphere."
McCutcheon also feels very comfortable with the offensive coaching staff in Austin, namely Wide Receiver Coach Chris Jackson and Head Coach Steve Sarkisian. Jackson and Sarkisian sold McCutcheon on sliding into the Deandre Moore Jr. slot receiver role in the offense. Moore Jr., a sophomore, finished with four catches for 104 yards and two touchdowns against Mississippi State. The 6-foot, 175-pound McCutcheon projects to physically develop like the 6-foot, 195-pound Moore Jr.
"With Coach Jackson and Coach Sark and being able to see them head to head with Mississippi State, I was very impressed especially with the spot where they see me play at (the Deandre Moore Jr. role)," McCutcheon said. "I was just very impressed with the things that he (Moore) is able to do and the way that they (coaches) see me being able to do what he does. So, I was just very impressed with the offensive scheme."
McCutcheon is one of the state's most prolific and productive pass catchers, checking in at No. 20 overall in the 2024 DCTF Rising Hot 100. As a junior, he secured 1,430 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns. McCutcheon has 31 catches for 432 yards and six touchdowns through five games as a senior.
