Muleshoe (4-2) at Lubbock Roosevelt (5-1):
There aren’t many small school districts with the kind of depth that 2-3A Division II has, so every week is huge in this five-team district that features three teams at 4-2 and two at 5-1.
Muleshoe had one of the state’s more puzzling losses last week as the Mules at home were drilled by Dalhart, 50-21. Dalhart is a good Division I team, but they were also playing with their backup QB. Muleshoe trailed 14-7 at the half, but were outscored 36-13 in the second half. The Mules explosive passing attack netted just 77 yards on the night.
Roosevelt blasted Lamesa last week, 63-35, as the Eagles rolled up 626 yards offense, including 552 yards on the ground.
I don’t have much confidence in either defense right now, so I think we are in for an absolute shootout. This feels like the last team with the ball wins.
