TXHSFB Recruiting Tales from the Road: Week 5

Young stars like North Forney QB Legend Bey, Forney QB Nelson Peterson, Prosper OL Sean Stover and Lampasas WR Ty Johnson stood out in Week 5.

Sophomore QB Makes Big Money Throw

2027 QB Savoy Nichols (6'4, 175) - Waco University: A tall gunslinger with the ability to unleash impressive throws, Nichols delivered several standout moments in Waco U's 28-21 win over Lampasas. His most clutch play came with eight seconds left when he fired a 38-yard touchdown strike to Keandre Brooks for the victory. Nichols is already catching the eye of recruiters, with interest from schools like Baylor, Texas State, Texas Tech and more.

Legend Born in Cross-Town Rivalry Win

2027 QB Legend Bey (5'10, 185) - North Forney: Bey was electrifying from start to finish, capping off his night with an eight-yard touchdown run to seal the Falcons' 35-31 win over Forney in their revived cross-town rivalry. He totaled 292 yards and five touchdowns, with 176 yards on the ground. A dynamic playmaker, Bey is a constant scoring threat. On the recruiting front, he holds over 15 offers, including Baylor, Texas Tech, TCU and Oklahoma.

Peterson Names Rings Out in Forney

2026 QB Nelson Peterson (6'2, 190) - Forney: This was our first in-person look at the younger brother of TXHSFB legend Adrian Peterson, and he didn’t disappoint. Despite a narrow loss, he delivered some big moments, racking up 222 total yards and two touchdowns. He also had a couple of huge TD plays called back due to penalties. With early offers from Texas Tech and Ole Miss, Peterson’s potential is sky-high.

Dynamic WR Leading Lampasas’ Offense

2027 WR Ty Johnson (6'2, 190) - Lampasas: The team lost its quarterback to injury just before halftime, but up until then, Johnson was on fire. He consistently used his speed to create separation and leveraged his size to outmatch smaller high school defensive backs. His impressive play has earned him offers from Colorado State, Texas Tech, UTEP, and UTSA.

The Man in the Middle

2026 OC Sean Stover (6'3, 285) - Prosper: Stover played guard in 2023 but has transitioned seamlessly to center this year, replacing North Texas's Tyler Mercer. Anchoring the middle of the state's most talented offensive line, which includes four other FBS-level recruits, Stover's impact is undeniable. He holds offers from Duke, Oregon, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Texas Tech, Toledo, and Princeton, and plans to attend Penn State's 'White Out' game against Washington on Nov. 9. - Carter Yates
