Hereford (4-0) at Seminole (5-0):
There may not be a more quiet 4-0 team in the entire state than the Hereford Whitefaces, who get overshadowed a bit up in the Texas Panhandle. Yet Adam Narron’s squad has just taken care of everyone in their path to this point in the season. They’ll get their toughest test to date this week as they head to the Permian Basin to tangle with state-ranked Seminole in what could end up being a shootout.
Hereford has had two weeks to prep for this matchup as HHS in their last outing in Week 4 drilled Perryton, 41-13. It was a balanced effort from the ‘Herd as RB Brylyn Lopez ran for 140 yards and four touchdowns and QB Kalub Ramirez threw passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns.
Seminole had no trouble last week in an easy 57-6 win over Denver City as QB Wyatt Holmstrom threw five first half touchdowns to lead the Indians. Holmstrom was relaxing on the bench most of the second half with the game being so lopsided. Don’t expect that this week. Hereford is a strong 4A-Division I squad with playmakers, but the key for me is Seminole’s defense and play up front. They are once again very strong in the trenches and that gives them an edge over Hereford in what should be one of the better games out west this week.
