Frisco Lone Star '27 QB Karece Hoyt Steps into the Spotlight

Get to know 2027 quarterback standout Karece Hoyt and some of the other top talents at Frisco Lone Star, like Oklahoma TE commit Ryder Mix and ATH Davian Groce.

On a Frisco Lone Star team brimming with rising talent, 2027 QB Karece Hoyt (6'1, 200) stands out.

In a commanding 49-13 district win over McKinney North, Hoyt accounted for four touchdowns, demonstrating his growing prowess as the team's field general.

"We have a great team," Hoyt said. "Our receivers are amazing, and our defense is top-notch. But the main guys I want to highlight are the O-line—they do their job and get things done the right way."

Hoyt has racked up 898 yards of total offense in three games as the starter and scored 12 touchdowns.

"He gets better every week," Lone Star Head Coach Jeff Rayburn said of his young star under center. "He really gets better every rep. There's nothing he can't do. He doesn't blink in the face of adversity."

Hoyt’s talents have not gone unnoticed, as he already holds 15 scholarship offers. A versatile athlete, he has the potential to play quarterback, running back, or wide receiver at the collegiate level.

However, his focus remains on quarterback, drawing inspiration from NFL star CJ Stroud. Major programs like Texas A&M, Michigan, Oregon and Ole Miss are already showing strong interest in him as a signal-caller.

"The sky's the limit for what he can do at the next level," Rayburn said.

Other Lone Star Top Underclassmen and Performances of Note:

2026 ATH Davian Groce (6'1, 190): Groce burst onto the scene as a running back in his freshman season, but he has developed into an offensive jack of all trades. He scored on a touchdown run out of the backfield and caught two touchdown passes when split out wide. It's easy to see why programs like SMU, TCU, Texas A&M, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon and Tennessee have offered, and he is already listed on the DCTF five-star watchlist.

2026 TE Ryder Mix (6'4, 220): The Oklahoma commit is a team leader who is extremely intelligent and is used in multiple ways within Lone Star's offensive scheme. He can be utilized as a pass-catching weapon to move the chains, but he is a reliable and dependable blocker with nimble feet.

2026 S Jordan Deck (6'2, 180): With a rangy build and long arms, Deck is exactly the type of safety you envision patrolling the middle to defend the pass, but he might be more formidable versus the run, where he shows good closing speed and sideline to sideline range. He's already secured over 20 offers with names like LSU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Notre Dame and Michigan as some of the eye candy.

2027 DB Bryant Robinson (6'3, 175): This up-and-comer is a name that major colleges will be keeping on the radar because it's rare to find defenders with his length who can play sticky coverage. He already has North Texas and UNLV offers.
