The College Station tournament field is filling up fast, with schools punching tickets every weekend. There's still a couple SQTs left until late June, but the intensity is picking up each weekend. Colleyville Heritage, Kaufman and Richardson Berkner each qualified for the State 7-on-7 Tournament this past weekend at the Justin Northwest SQT.

Here is my notebook dump from the tournament. 

Name: Antayvious Ellis | School: Crowley | Class: 2027 | Pos: WR | HT: 6-foot | WT: 170

Ellis is one of the headliners in a loaded 2027 wide receiver class along with Arlington Lamar's Trent Yancey and DeSoto's Boobie Feaster. Ellis said him, Yancey and Feaster all played on the same peewee football team and compete with each other from their respective schools. Ellis has compiled 22 offers ahead of his sophomore season. He said USC was a 'wow' offer for him; he models his game after Jordan Addison. He'll visit LSU on June 6 and Ohio State on June 17 (Ellis was wearing an Ohio State pullover for those who like to monitor the garb of top recruits). 

He and Yancey have both specifically shouted out Texas A&M wide receiver coach Holmon Wiggins for developing a great relationship. 

Name: Colton Nussmeier | School: Flower Mound Marcus | Class: 2027 | Pos: QB | HT: 6'3 | WT: 185

Colton is the next Nuss up. His older brother, Garrett, will start at QB for LSU this season and threw for 8,160 yards and 83 touchdowns in his Marcus career. Both Garrett and Colton grew up quarterbacking under the tutelage of their father, Doug, a former NFL player and current quarterback coach for the Philadelphia Eagles. 

I unfortunately didn't watch Colton throw live on Saturday (Marcus has already advanced to College Station and was thus ineligible to advance past pool play). He got valuable varsity experience as a freshman, throwing for 288 yards and four touchdowns, and will start this season. He's a tall lefty with a strong arm, now standing 6-foot-3 after playing in eighth grade at 5-foot-8. He's racked up nine offers and will camp this summer at LSU, Georgia and Alabama.

Name: Brock Golwas | School: Flower Mound Marcus | Class: 2025 | Pos: LB | HT: 6'1 | WT: 225

Texas Tech is getting a straight up ball player in Brock Golwas. He was a quarterback up until his sophomore year when Marcus's outside linebacker got injured, and since then he hasn't come off the field. He played nickel safety in 2023 and also led the team with 10 rushing touchdowns as wildcat quarterback. This season, he'll play running back and outside linebacker. Oh, and he also is a center fielder and closing pitcher on the baseball team. And ran a 10.7 100m dash. At 225 pounds.

Texas Tech projects him to transition to middle linebacker in college. He'll graduate in Decemeber and head to Lubbock to pursue a lifelong dream.

"I grew up a Tech fan, I've been out there going to games since I was small," Golwas said. "Joey McGuire is doing a lot of good things out there, and the program is going to be good in the coming years."

Name: Braden Bach | School: Argyle | Class: 2026 | Pos: TE | HT: 6'5 | WT: 225

Bach is one of the most physically impressive 2026 recruits I've seen this spring at 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds. He played varsity as a sophomore and should have an integral role from the tight end spot in Argyle's fast-paced offense in 2024. Bach will be the next in line from his family to play Division I football. His grandfather was a tight end at Texas Tech and his older brother played center at Portland State. 

Bach has a strong relationship with Tulsa running backs coach Adrian Mayes and cites offers from UNT and UTEP as huge moments for him. He also says Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy has made a great impression on him. Oklahoma and Texas Tech are other schools to monitor. 

Name: Daylan McCutcheon | School: Lovejoy | Class: 2025 | Pos: WR | HT: 6-foot | WT: 175

This was the first time I got to watch McCutcheon in person, and he's the smoothest wide receiver I've seen on the 7-on-7 circuit to date. This is the first season Lovejoy has competed in 7-on-7, a change new head coach Todd Dodge made. McCutcheon will be the headliner of Dodge's first offense after catching 92 passes for 1,423 yards and 19 touchdowns last season. Lovejoy lost a lot of production, but McCutcheon will usher in a new group of standouts. He has 33 offers. Texas, SMU, USC, Ohio State and Florida State are the programs to watch for. 

Name: DaQuwan Dunn | School: Richardson Berkner | Class: 2026 | Pos: DB | HT: 6'1 | WT: 172

Richardson Berkner has a stacked defense with defensive back Kobi Foreman (committing July 4) and Houston linebacker commit Richmond Ugochukwu. DaQuwan Dunn is a name I believe could skyrocket recruiting wise this season. He plays quarterback, wide receiver and defensive back, but colleges are recruiting him at corner and that is his primary spot in Berkner's defense. He was lock down on Saturday, showing a high-motor and aggressive coverage. He'll take visits this summer to Arizona State and Tulsa. Arizona State recruiting coordinator Fred Jordan has made a strong impression on him. 

Side note: I wrote last fall about Arizona State becoming a new player in Texas recruiting with the addition of Bryan Carrington to the staff and entry into the Big 12. Expect to hear a lot more about the Sun Devils in the coming years.
