Hard-Hitting Clear Lake Safety Cameron Nelson an Emerging D1 Force

DCTF three-star safety Cameron Nelson recaps his TCU offer and visit and discusses his upcoming senior season at Clear Lake.

Clear Lake 2025 S Cameron Nelson (5'11, 180) is a DCTF three-star prospect who has started to generate big recruiting interest.

Nelson has offers from TCU, Texas State, Tulsa, and Yale and is receiving interest from Kansas and Oregon State.

"It means the world. I have been working for 10-plus years, so seeing it all unfold and pay off is amazing," Nelson said.

With a nose for the football and tremendous closing speed, Nelson is considered one of the top 2025 safety prospects in Texas.

"I think it's my game IQ," Nelson said when asked what sets him apart on the field. "I can see the field really well. I pay full speed, and I hit pretty hard."

TCU was his first P4-level offer, and it was a big one. He is feeling the vibes in Fort Worth.

"I love going there," Nelson said.

"I have been there for a couple of visits and for a game. I love the environment, the atmosphere, the coaches, and everything about it. I was there for the Texas game. They started off losing, but they came back and only ended up losing by three or four. It was loud, and it was amazing."

Nelson is looking forward to closing out his prep career on a high note at Clear Lake under the direction of HC Donald Lawrence.

"I love the brotherhood—the tight-knit family," Nelson said. "We are coming off a losing season, but we are going to bounce back this next year. We are expecting some pretty big things this Fall."
