Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD announced the hiring of Tolar head coach Jeremy Mullins as the first ever head football coach at Eagle Mountain High School on Tuesday. The school opens in August as the district’s fourth comprehensive high school.
Mullins has spent the past seven years as the head coach at Tolar posting an impressive 72-32 overall record and leading the Rattlers to the Class 2A-Division I State Championship game in 2023, the Rattlers first ever trip to the state title game.
The Rattlers posted three losing seasons in Mullins first four seasons, but posted double-digit wins in each of the past three seasons, going from 10-3 in 2021, to 13-1 in 2022 and 14-2 in 2023.
Mullins has ties to EM-S ISD Athletic Director John Abendschan as he spent time as the offensive coordinator at Boswell before being hired at Tolar in early 2017; Abendschan was the head coach at Boswell when Mullins was a coordinator.
Mullins is a native of Canyon, who played college football at Eastern New Mexico. He's part of a coaching family as his father Keith Mullins has been a head coach for 21-years and currently serves on the staff at Tolar.
Mullins will have his work cut out for him this offseason as Eagle Mountain High won’t open until August. He’ll spend time at both Boswell and Saginaw High this offseason working with players from those schools who will be zoned to EMHS. Eagle Mountain will begin varsity football in 2024 as a Class 4A-Division II school.
