Former 5-Star, No. 1 overall player enters Transfer Portal from Texas A&M

Texas A&M Aggies defensive tackle Walter Nolen, a five-star from the class of 2022, announced intentions to transfer after defensive line coach Elijah Robinson took the Syracuse defensive coordinator job.

Texas A&M sophomore defensive tackle Walter Nolen announced his entry into the transfer portal Sunday night, according to On3.

The former five-star was the highest-rated recruit in the Aggies' No.1-ranked 2022 recruiting class. He is the eighth member of the 30 enrolles to leave the program.

The 6-foot-4-inch, 290-pound interior defender from Powell, Tennessee, has played in 19 games with 10 starts in the previous two seasons. Nolen tied for fourth on the team with 8.5 tackles for loss and tied for third with four sacks.

Nolen is the first Aggie to reveal his transfer intentions after defensive line coach Elijah Robinson, who served as interim head coach after Jimbo Fisher's firing, accepted the Syracuse defensive coordinator job despite new head coach Mike Elko offering to make him the highest-paid position coach in football.

Nolen will have two years of eligibility remaining.
