DCTF's FBS Watchability Rankings for Week Seven

How to watch Texas A&M Aggies at Tennessee Volunteers, Houston Cougars vs. West Virginia Mountaineers, Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. Kansas State Wildcats.

In the world of cord-cutting and streaming, it's difficult to know where you can watch your favorite Texas college football team on Saturday. Here's a Texas-centric TV guide, and watchability ranking, so you can spend less time finding that gosh-darned channel and more time watching football.

Note: Sam Houston lost to New Mexico State 13-27 on Wednesday. UTEP beat FIU 27-14 on Wednesday. Texas, Baylor and Rice are on bye.

1. Texas A&M at No. 19 Tennessee (2:30 p.m., CBS)

Texas A&M faltered last week in a battle with Alabama for a stranglehold on the SEC West. Now, they face a daunting road test traveling to Knoxville against the 4–1 Tennessee Volunteers. Sitting at 4–2, this game feels like a turning point in Texas A&M's season, for better or worse. Are they going to compete for a conference crown? Or, are fans preparing for a backhalf of the season spent examining Jimbo Fisher's enormous buyout?

Prediction: Texas A&M 28, Tennessee 17. Aggies prove they're contenders in the SEC.

2. Houston vs. West Virginia (THURSDAY night 6:00 p.m., FS1)

It's Dana Holgorsen's first game as Houston's head coach against the team he left. At the end of the 2018 season, Holgorsen shocked Mountaineer nation when he chose to take the Houston job, then at the group of five level. Holgorsen believed the grass was greener in a recruiting hotbed at a program ascending to the Big 12, but now he's 2–3 in his fifth year while West Virginia is a shocking 4–1.

Prediction: West Virginia 24, Houston 13. Houston's inaugural season in the Big 12 continues to fly off the rails.

3. Texas Tech vs. Kansas State (6:00 p.m., FS1)

Texas Tech at home is a different beast, and the reigning Big 12 Champs, Kansas State, have slogged out of the gate to a 3–2 start. Nevertheless, the Wildcats have power in the trenches to give the Red Raiders fits. Steve Linton had a breakout game against Baylor with three sacks, and Texas Tech needs a similar effort to avenge the 343 yards they surrendered in last year's game.

Prediction: Kansas State 34, Texas Tech 28. Red Raiders come up short in hard-fought affair.

4. TCU vs. BYU (2:30 p.m., ESPN)

TCU desperately needs a win after dropping the past two games to West Virginia and Iowa State. They'll have to do it without quarterback Chandler Morris, who's sidelined with a sprained MCL. Enter Rockwall-Heath legend Josh Hoover, the 2021 Landry Award winner. After a National Championship run in which TCU found every last way to win, this season they've found every way to lose close games. They hope that changes Saturday.

Prediction: BYU 30, TCU 21. Horned Frogs endure a three-game losing streak, and we find out how resilient this program is.

5. North Texas vs. Temple (11:00 a.m., ESPNU)

Saturday's bout with Temple is a must-win if North Texas is to go bowling this year. The 2–4 Owls are feisty (see 542 total yards last week against UTSA), but beatable. North Texas's ensuing four games are all against the top four ranked teams in the American Athletic Conference preseason poll. They already dropped a winnable game against Navy last week. They can't afford to drop this one.

Prediction: North Texas 48, Temple 38. North Texas offense goes nuclear.

6. UTSA vs. UAB (7:00 p.m., ESPNU)

Quarterback Frank Harris was sensational in a 49-34 win over Temple last week, the defense less so. UTSA is 20–3 over the last three seasons in conference play, but this defense does not look like the same wagon, especially if outside linebacker Trey Moore continues to be hobbled. UTSA should win this game, but UAB has enough offensive firepower to make it interesting (Shoutout San Antonio John Jay Alum Jacob Zeno).

Prediction: UTSA 38, UAB 17. UTSA gets back to .500 on the year.

7. SMU at East Carolina (THURSDAY 6:30 p.m., ESPN)

Traveling to East Carolina is always tough, especially in the middle of the week. The good news is SMU was off last Saturday to heal its bumps and bruises. East Carolina is 1–4, but they're frisky. SMU needs to use this contest to settle in on an offensive identity.

Prediction: SMU 28, East Carolina 12. SMU gets the win, but the offense leaves a little to be desired.

8. Texas State vs. ULM (6:00 p.m., ESPN+)

Texas State dropped another game in its lopsided history with Louisiana last week but look to get back on track against another team from the Bayou. ULM's on a three-game losing streak.

Prediction: Texas State 35, ULM 24. Texas State reaches five wins for the first time since 2014.
