Clyde (4-0) at Sweetwater (4-0): It’s a Big Country showdown of surprise unbeaten teams as Clyde heads about an hour west on I-20 out to Sweetwater.
Clyde obliterated Ballinger, 56-0, last week as the Bulldogs outgained Ballinger a staggering 544-65. Having QB Blake Carr back healthy for Clyde has been a huge lift and the signal caller had another big night accounting for 295 yards of offense and five touchdowns in the win.
Sweetwater rolled past old rival Big Spring, 56-30, last week on the strength of its dynamic offense that racked up nearly 600 yards.
QB Caiden Ortiz threw for 218 yards and three touchdowns, while the Mustangs skill players put up big numbers. RB Korda Moore ran for 183 yards and three touchdowns and added a touchdown reception, while RB Uriah Martinez added 122 yards rushing and two touchdowns to go along with a 19-yard touchdown catch. WR Jadyn Forbes was the leading receiver with five receptions for 146 yards and a touchdown.
Expect a lot of points in this one; first one to 40 (or 50) may bring this home. The edge goes to Sweetwater because I believe there’s a bit more versatility to the attack and they aren’t solely reliant on one particular player.
