Sam Houston and Texas State to renew rivalry in 2024 at NRG Stadium
The Sam Houston Bearkats and the Texas State Bobcats will renew their rivalry at NRG Stadium in 2024. It'll be the first meeting between the two programs since 2011, a series that goes back to 1915.

Sam Houston and Texas State will renew an old Southland rivalry on September 28, 2024.

First reported by Katfans.com and confirmed by TexasFootball.com, the two programs have agreed to play September 28 of 2024 inside NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The game is set to be the first matchup between the programs since 2011 when Texas State transitioned from the FCS.

This will be the first season for Sam Houston as an FBS program as part of Conference USA. It will be the 93rd overall meeting between the two dating back to 1915. Previously Sam Houston had played SFA in the Battle of the Piney Woods inside NRG.
