Duncanville 2024 RB Caden Durham (5'10, 185) took home Offensive MVP honors following the Panthers' 28-21 victory over North Shore in the 6A Division I state championship game.
In the victory, Durham rushed for 105 yards and three touchdowns.
While some of Durham's blockers have graduated, there is a lot of talent coming back, and Duncanville should be considered the frontrunner to win another state crown in 2023.
"Duncanville is going to be Duncanville," Durham said. "We're straight. Trust the coaches."
On the recruiting front, Durham has collected 33 scholarship offers from some of the nation's most prestigious programs, but he is still considering all of his options.
"I'm still open," Durham confirmed.
Originally from the Sooner State, Durham moved to Duncanville from Southmoore before his sophomore year. The Sooners will be a strong player in his recruitment.
"I'm from Oklahoma," Durham said. "It is nice. It is hometown for one. Demarco Murray, the way he coaches, I like it. They have a running back that produces every year."
The Texas Longhorns were a recent offer on the other side of the Red River.
"Bijan Robinson," Durham said when asked what stands out about UT. "You can see how he produced as a running back at Texas."
Sonny Dykes' coaching style is helping the Horned Frogs stay firmly in the race.
"The way he coaches his athetes," Durham said about Coach Dykes. "Everybody respects (him), and everybody works hard for him, so I know he is a good coach."
Durham is trying to visit "Arizona State, LSU and Colorado" this spring/summer.
What stands out about LSU?
LSU - "LSU is just a good school period. LSU it feels like Duncanville. It feels like we are at home.
Colorado - "It is Deion Sanders. He's cool peoples, but he works when it is time to work."
Arizona State - "I think they are next up. I want to go see what it is like before everybody else actually commits. I've got to see if it feels like home. If it feels like home we are good."
As a junior, Durham rushed for 1,960 yards and 36 touchdowns. He is rated as a DCTF four-star prospect, checking in at No. 14 in the 2024 DCTF Rising Hot 100.
