Terry Bussey is a Mr. Do It All at Timpson. 

Bussey (5'11, 180) is the state's No. 1 ATH in the 2024 cycle and was named Mr. Texas Football in 2022.

A three-way superstar, Bussey made his impact felt on seemingly every play. As a quarterback, the junior threw for 2,177 yards and 26 touchdowns, completing 64 percent of his passes. Bussey also rushed for 2,596 yards and 46 touchdowns, averaging a staggering 14.1 yards per carry. Defensively, he tallied 115 tackles and five interceptions, returning four of them for touchdowns. On special teams, Bussey returned three kickoffs for touchdowns and added a punt return for a score. Over the course of the season, Bussey accounted for 4,773 yards of total offense and 80 total touchdowns, guiding Timpson to the 2A Division I state semifinals.

But he and his teammates at Timpson are hungry for much more. 

They want to win it all. 

"It means a lot more because it's the last chance we get in high school football," Bussey said of his upcoming senior season. "Once it's over, it's over. We got to get it this time."

"Really (we are) trying to get mentally prepared in the weight room when we're doing conditioning. We've been stuck there for the past three years. We got one last shot to try and get over the hump."

While he is preparing for the 2023 season and competing in multiple sports (baseball, basketball, track, football) throughout the school year, Bussey is also navigating through a difficult recruiting process that has seen nearly 30 colleges step up with offers. 

Bussey has secured scholarships on both sides of the ball at wide receiver and cornerback. 

"I really don't have a preference," Bussey said. "I just want to play football."

In-state, he is looking at schools like Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M and TCU. He recently visited Texas, and the Longhorns are focusing on defense. 

"I was with my track teammates and my coaches," Bussey said at the Texas Relays on Friday. "It was a great experience for them to see that and get to do that. I got to talk to Coach Sark (Steve Sarkisian) (and) Coach (Blake) Gideon. I had some great conversations with them. It was overall a great experience here."

"They are trying to recruit me at DB, but I talked to the receiver's coach a little bit yesterday. He was trying to get me over there a little bit."

"We just talked, tried to get closer, and grow our connection."

Texas A&M is another program that has built strong relationships with Bussey. 

"I got great relationships with Coach Jimbo (Fisher), Coach (Rohan) Gaines, Coach (TJ) Rushing, Coach BGA (Bryant Gross-Armiento). They talk to me almost every day. That's what really keeps them in the mix." 

Out-of-state schools like Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, Oklahoma and Tennessee are all making solid pitches. 

"I'm not really big on staying in Texas," Bussey shockingly revealed. 

"It's just wherever I feel like I'm home at. That's what really will put them (a college) over the top."

Bussey has upcoming visits with Tennessee (April 14) and Alabama (April 15), and he will "try" to stop at College Station to see the Aggies on April 8.
