Crowley ISD has named former Cedar Hill head coach Carlos Lynn as the next head football coach at Crowley High School.
Lynn, who has spent the last six seasons at Cedar Hill, holds a career record of 90-75 in his 15 years as a head coach, nine at Arlington Seguin from 2008-2016 and 2017-2022 at Cedar Hill.
Lynn, who is a regional director with the THSCA and a member of the Black Coaches Association, is one of the state’s most respected coaches and is known as a developer of young assistant coaches, several of his former assistants are now successful head coaches across the state.
Coach Lynn has championship pedigree winning a state title as a player in 1990 for Wilmer-Hutchins under Robert Woods, in 1993 he played for a NAIA National Champion at East Central University in Oklahoma and Lynn was the defensive coordinator for Cedar Hill’s 2006 state title team under Joey McGuire.
As a head coach, Coach Lynn led Cedar Hill to the state title game in 2020 and he twice led Cedar Hill to the regional semifinals. He takes over a Crowley program that was 4-7 a year ago, but did make the playoffs in their first season at the 6A level, he’ll go toe to toe inside of district 3-6A play with Crowley ISD rival North Crowley, who is led by Ray Gates, Coach Gates was an assistant at Cedar Hill under Coach Lynn and served as Coach Lynn’s defensive coordinator in 2021.
